AL-KAWTHAR UNIVERSITY ADMISSION POLICY
1. Admission Process
All applications for admissions shall be received through the Online Public Portal of the University (eportal.alkawthar.edu.pk). Candidates shall upload the quired ocuments in electronic format as prescribed in the Portal.
2. Admission Eligibility
A candidate must possess the relevant qualification required for eligibility in order to be considered for admission into a program. Those having non-HSSC or non-DAE qualifications must provide equivalence for these from IBCC. Admission Eligibility requirements for different undergraduate degree programs are provided in Table found at the end of this document.
3. Conditional Admission On Basis of HSSC PART 1 Result
Candidates who have cleared Part-I of the required eligibility qualification (e.g. HSSC) for a degree program and are awaiting result of the Part-II shall be considered for Conditional Admission into the program. Conditional Admission, if granted, shall be canceled automatically if the candidate fails to clear Part-II upon announcement of the result. No fee shall be refunded to such candidates whose Conditional Admission is canceled. Other matters related to such cases shall be handled as per relevant University Rules and Policies.
4. Admission Test
In general, candidates must appear in Al-Kawthar University Admission Test prescribed for the program. However, the University may offer admission based on Admission Test, or at its discretion, waive the requirement of Admission Test, keeping in view the difficulty of coming to Karachi for admission test for out-of-city candidates as well as the prevailing emergency weather conditions during rainy seasons for all candidates.
Al-Kawthar University Admission Test shall be conducted through an Online System. Candidates may register for Admission Test through the Admissions Portal and must pay the prescribed Admission Test Fee. Al-Kawthar University may, at its discretion, accept the result of any other standardized test as equivalent to its own admission test.
5. Admission Merit Calculation
In case of admission granted on the basis of Admission Test and past academic record, Merit for Admission may be calculated based on the following formula:
ADMISSION MERIT = 0.4 × HSSC Percentage + 0.6 × Admission Test Score
In case of admission granted solely based on HSSC or equivalent examination, Admission Merit may be calculated based on the following formula:
ADMISSION MERIT = 1.0 × HSSC Percentage
6. Admission Interview
An Admission Interview may be conducted where prescribed/deemed necessary by the University. Admission will only be granted to candidates who pass the Admission Interview, where such interview is prescribed. Admission Interview shall be conducted on PASS / FAIL basis and shall not contribute to numerical determination of Admission Merit.
7. Admission Merit Cutoff
Al-Kawthar University shall prescribe, and may revise periodically, the Admission Merit Cutoff on both, per Degree Program basis and per Admission Cohort basis, for each Cohort to be offered admission. Following Cohorts shall be applicable to Fall 2025 Admissions:
- First Cohort: June 2025 and July 2025
- Second Cohort: August 2025
- Third Cohort: September 2025
Admission Merit Cutoff for different undergraduate degree programs for the First Cohort are provided in Table. Admission Merit Cutoff may be revised for each subsequent Cohort.
Candidates not offered admission in earlier cohorts shall be considered on Waiting List and may improve their merit through additional Admission Tests or be offered admission if cutoff is revised lower, subject to availability of seats.
8. Admission Offer Letter
Eligible candidates meeting the Admission Merit Cutoff shall be issued Admission Offer Letter specifying Terms & Conditions. All admissions shall be initially offered on Provisional Basis and confirmed only after verification of documents and fulfillment of formalities.
Conditional Admission candidates must fulfill additional conditions mentioned in the Offer Letter within the specified time, failing which admission shall be canceled automatically.
9. Fee Payment
Candidates must pay the associated Fee Voucher within the specified time, otherwise the Admission Offer shall be canceled automatically.
10. Fee Payment in Installments
Students desirous of paying fee in installments may pay in two or three equal installments as per approved policy through the Office of Student Support Services
11. Registration of Admitted Candidates as Al-Kawthar University Students
After fee payment, students shall be registered and allotted Registration Numbers. Registration includes:
12. Merit Scholarships & Need Based Financial Assistance for New Admissions
Need Based Financial Assistance. Students applying for Need Based Financial Assistance may be allowed to pay Fee in three equal installments with First Installment to be paid within due date, subject to preliminary scrutiny of their application by the Office of Scholarships & Financial Assistance.
Amount of Need Based Financial Assistance Award and remaining fee payment due shall be finalized after thorough process of scrutiny of all applications and conduct of interviews by the designated University Committee. This process shall be completed by the end of the sixth week of the semester.
Merit Scholarship (Based on Admission Test):
Merit Scholarships for the first semester shall be finalized and awarded on per program basis after the Midterm Exams of the semester. Office of Scholarships & Financial Assistance may be contacted for further information on the subject.
- 60+= 10%
- 70+= 20%
- 80+= 30%
- 90+= 50%
13. Fee Refund
All refunds shall be dealt with as per University Fee Refund Policy
